Archie Bronson Outfit -- the duo of S. Windett and Arp Cleveland -- will release Wild Crush, their fourth album and first since 2010’s Coconut, on May 10th via Domino Record Co. Having waved farewell to founding member D Hobday and welcomed live collaborator Kristian Robinson (aka Capitol K) to help with some production and analogue synthesizer duties, the sound of Archie Bronson Outfit in 2014 consists of driving rhythms, howling romance, distortion, and echo, but with a new clarity of vision. The album, recorded in the band’s hometown of Bath and featuring Duke Garwood on baritone sax, is the sound of Archie Bronson moving forward with confidence and surety -- it’s their most exhilaratingly direct music to date.
The musical journey of A.B.O.’s Windett and Cleveland is built on instinct and intuition with distinct nods to their shared musical passions, from driving krautrock motorik beats, moments of classic psych disorientation, to journeys deep into the heart of the Mississippi blues heartlands or “O Superman” pioneering spirit of N.Y. circa 1981. Since the release of Coconut, circumstances have changed for both -- Cleveland moved from London to the Cornish wilds and Windett established himself as a world-renowned painter with successful shows in London, Los Angeles, New York and Dusseldorf – a fact reflected in the album’s overriding topical thread of the search for salvation and transition via romance and escape.
Listen to album opener 'Two Doves On A Lake' below.

Also, for the audiophiles, the album was mastered at half speed for maximum aural pleasure, the first Domino album to use this process. Pre-orders through the Domino Mart or iTunes come with an instant mp3 download of “Two Doves On A Lake.”

Directed by long time Avey Tare / Animal Collective collaborator Abby Portner, the video tells the misadventure of Little Fang's journey to the cerebral carnival. The Little Fang puppet (part cat, part werewolf) was created by the renowned Jim Henson's Creature Shop and was wrangled by Michael Wick (Nightmare Before Christmas) and puppet mastered by Tim Lagasse (Crash and Bernstein & Sesame Street). Abby shot the video on location at Dorton's LA Carnival in Riverside, CA and at McCadden Studio Space in Hollywood, CA.
"I think my goal for this video was to keep everything mostly in camera and handmade. I ended up using visual effects throughout the video, but I really wanted to showcase the craft of the things that were made like the puppet and physical set pieces," explains Abby. She goes on, "I also wanted to reference horror movies, like the car scene in Psycho and the lake in Malibu that the little girl climbs out of in the original Frankenstein. Dave [Portner] and I were inspired by Jim Henson, who had a funny dark side, so we tried to make a video that also had light hearted dark side".
Head over to The Creators Project for behind the scenes photos from the shoot and an in-depth interview with director Abby Portner here.
Slasher Flicks by name alone is not what it appears to be. Scrambled horror film soundtracks? Not even remotely. A bunch of East Coasters making their quintessential LA album? No, more like escape from LA, say guitar-wielding Avey Tare (of Animal Collective), keyboard player and singer Angel Deradoorian (of Dirty Projectors, Deradoorian), and drummer Jeremy Hyman (of Ponytail, Dan Deacon). If LA is an environment to get lost in, as they claim, this group sewing roots in SoCal have become lost in the best way: relocating and reinventing sounds they’re already skilled in making, sounds that as Avey Tare says, are not only regionally unrestricted but that “come from a place that’s not human.”
The band will head out on a North American tour following the album’s release. All US dates are below and a special ticket and album bundle is available to purchase now from the band's site, which also contains live performance footage. Pre-order ‘Enter the Slasher House’ on CD, double heavyweight LP from the band's store or Domino Mart and digitally from iTunes and get an instant mp3 download of ‘Little Fang.’

After releasing two hard-hitting albums and countless singles on various labels - we're thrilled to welcome White Lung to Domino. Vancouver’s resilient rock n’ roll outfit hit the ground running with their new, powerful single “Drown With The Monster” which articulates prevailing lyrics and infectious guitars whirled in relentless drum beats. Watch the video below.
Mish Way on “Drown With The Monster”: “I was looking at these pieces by Andrea Mary Marshall in The New Inquiry and there was this quote from her, ‘Toxic Women are toxic to themselves. They are Tragic Heroines who blow dry their own wounds. I aspire to be the opposite.’ This song is about kicking habits and running away with a new distraction. It's a song about my two biggest vices, but I'd rather drown with the monster than blow dry my wounds."
Drown With The Monster 7" is available digitally and physically on limited edition 7" on April 29. It's available to pre-order now through the Domino Mart and receive an instant mp3 download of the title track.
White Lung Live Dates: 06-25 Brooklyn, NY - Saint Vitus 06-26: New York, NY - Mercury Lounge
"The Riverbed" is the first full track released from Owen Pallett's new album,In Conflict, and showcases a more brutal tone of songwriting from Pallett with a building arrangement that ratchets the tension in its frenetic build. Appropriately, the accompanying video compliments the mood with its own dramatic struggle. The Eva Michon-directed clip was filmed in Los Angeles and stars career actor Jim Pallett as the protagonist. Owen himself also has a small role in the video as "Jerk #4.” “Typical Hollywood bullshit,” Owen says, about having his supporting role cut down to a mere few frames.
To compliment and contrast "The Riverbed," a lyric video for "On A Path" is also debuting today exclusively on T: The New York Times Magazine and includes a Q&A with Pallett on In Conflict and his Academy Award nomination, alongside Arcade Fire, for Best Original Score (Spike Jonze's Her). Fingers crossed.
In Conflictis full of love songs— more specifically, songs about liminal states and our loved ones locked in battle with them. “The record is meant to approach ‘insanity’ in a positive way,” Owen says— emphasis on the ironizing scare quotes around singular notions of insanity. “Depression, addiction, gender trouble, and the creative state are presented as positive, loveable, empathetic ways of being. Not preferable, per se, but all as equal, valid positions that we experience, which make us human.” Watch the album trailer for In Conflict, featuring illuminating liner notes in an alpine landscape, HERE.
In Conflict will be available on May 13th on CD (WIGCD304), digitally (WIG304D), standard edition LP (WIGLP304) and on limited edition double LP (with 3 bonus tracks) (WIGLP304X) through Dom Mart. You may pre-order the album HERE. “The Riverbed” is available today for early download for all pre-orders on Dom Mart as well as on iTunes.

We're honored to announce the newest addition to the Domino family, Your Friend, and her debut EP,Jekyll/Hyde. The release is available digitally now and will be out on CD and 12" on April 8, 2014.
Watch the Dalton and Austin Paley-directed video for Jekyll/Hyde track 'Tame One' below, which gives a glimpse into Taryn Blake Miller’s (AKA Your Friend) life in her adopted hometown of Lawrence, KS, and performing live with the tight knit community of musicians, some of whom recorded with her on the EP.
In the fall of 2012, Miller and co-producer Jordan Geiger (Hospital Ships), set out to capture Miller's intimate live energy but with refinements. Though her bare-bones stage show was in high demand, she wanted the songs more fleshed out for the record. Bringing in bass, drums and keyboards, as well as layered guitars and vocals, Miller self-released Jekyll/Hyde in August 2013 to an already devoted fan base that quickly multiplied. For the Domino release, Miller and engineers Danny Bowersox and CJ Calhoun added even more depth with freshly recorded live drums and vocals. The result is a captivating debut that sounds fully realized in its ideal form.
Pre-order Jekyll/Hyde on CD or 12” from the Domino Mart and receive an instant mp3 download of the entire EP.
